Centuries ago exotic fruits were a sign of power and wealth. Imported from far far away. Not only from foreign countries, but from different continents entirely. Kings and queens enjoyed the sweet taste and valued the weight of the delicious food in gold. In another world where everything, everybody and everywhere is much closer, more connected, we should not forget what things are worth. Yummy-red strawberries, freshly-green grapes and seductively soft figs are worth all the shiny silver and sparkling gold one can find. There is nothing more extravagant than what we can find on our everyday plates. Let’s appreciate these little treasures and wonders of nature.
