Since 150 years, Monaco is setting new benchmarks for development, creating innovative projects for a high quality of life in the Principality. 7 years back and forward review.
“We are creating a new history!”
There have been many changes for the last 7 years. A new Yacht Club was designed by the famous architect Norman Foster and moored in the Port of Hercule just like a mega yacht and opened its doors in 2014. Onboard: luxury decor elements from the fashion house Hermes. The legendary Hotel de Paris got a total facelift. A new shopping quarter with a brand new conference centre, the “One Monte-Carlo”, was erected next to the Casino square, totally renovated and inaugurated in 2020.

A new € 8.2 million Nuclear Medicine Department at the Princess Grace Hospital has been launched to help detect and treat cancer with high precision. Monaco marina “Cala del Forte”, located in the near Italian village of Ventimiglia, with 178 berths from 6.5 up to 70+ meters, was bought in 2019. Soon it will be possible to take a high-speed shuttle A2V from Ventimiglia, and it will bring passengers to Monaco in only 15 minutes. The new port’s opening ceremony is planned in June/July this year.

Once I had a conversation with an employee of the Hotel de Paris and I asked him: “Do you feel sorry for the loss of the historical old hotel?” He confidently answered: “No, because now we are creating a new history!”
What further grandiose transformations await the inhabitants of the Principality in the next 7 years?
1. Eco-district Portier Cove Mareterra by 2025
They call it “a new level of luxury”, and it is indeed:
an eco-neighbourhood Portier Cove Mareterra will include more than 100 luxury apartments and villas with Mediterranean Sea view, a seafront promenade, a shady alley along with the Japanese Garden and a private marina port with the restaurants and shops nearby.
2. The New CHPG Hospital by 2026
By 2026, 2 new Princess Grace Hospital buildings will be delivered. The complete reconstruction will last until 2029, while the existing centre continues to operate.
The new Hospital Complex is designed using the latest environmental and seismic standards, and it will become the most modern in Europe.
According to AIA Architectes, it will be a transformation of “the existing hospital into a balcony with a sea view, while ensuring the continuity of care”.
3. Fontvieille shopping mall by 2027
30,000sqm of commercial space including the brand shops, hypermarket, latest generation cinema complex, parking spaces, offices and around 40 state-owned housing will be put into operation by 2027.
The current Fontvieille shopping centre will remain open during the all construction period. Currently is under study a cable car project that should connect the lower Fontvieille area with the upper Jardin Exotique and the Rock.
