Inspired by Japanese faience, Raku is the latest Eau de Parfum released by the Parisian brand Les Bains Guerbois. Lemon, fig and cedarwood are the protagonists of this fragrance that invigorates the senses.
Les Bains Guerbois now has over a dozen fragrances in its catalogue, offering various mythical and appealing aromas. However, the history of this brand goes far beyond perfumes, as it actually started as a spa.
The Parisian label was founded in 1885 as a place of beauty and relaxation where high society members and admired artists would gather. Monet, Manet, Zola, Renoir and Proust were some of the personalities that would regularly visit this spa. Almost one century later, in 1978, the place was transformed into a night club and its name was changed. Artists and celebrities would now go to Les Bains Douches for a night of fun, dancing and mingling.
And if one transformation were not enough, another one came by in 2015, when the place was turned into a 5-star boutique hotel. Jean-Pierre Marois, a movie producer and heir of the building, renamed it Les Bains Hotel and revived both the spa and the nightclub.
One year later, Les Bains Guerbois entered the world of fragrances by launching a first signature Cologne and a scented candle called ‘Atmosphere’. This led to a significant success in 2018 when an award-winning Eaux de Parfum collection was launched. Called ‘Une date, une Histoire`, this collection pays homage to the brand’s rich history by making each fragrance a reference to a specific year and story of the Parisian label.
Ever since, the brand has been dedicated to the production of Eaux de Parfums manufactured in France and carefully created by Master Perfumers.
In April 2023, Les Bains Guerbois launched its latest fragrance, Raku, developed by the Perfumer Jérome Épinette. This woody, musky eau de parfum has lemon and black pepper top notes, with fig and clary sage as heart notes. Fig, Clary Sage. Cedarwood from Texas, Ambroxan and White Musk also adorn this harmony of scents.
Described by the brand as shining and soothing, this magical and sensual perfume is inspired by Japanese faience. Raku, as a matter of fact, refers to a traditional Japanese type of pottery, which you may also find adorning the different spaces inside Les Bains Paris Hotel.
