The Laurel Budapest is a gastronomic destination in central Budapest, in the same building as the Babérliget bookstore. The restaurant received the recommendation of the Michelin Guide a few months after its opening in 2019, and in 2021 Laurel was announced in the Top 10 Hungary’s Best Restaurants according to Audi’s Dining Guide.
The Laurel Budapest is a modern and creative restaurant characterized by the respect of Hungarian culinary traditions that are combined with French technologies and the fusion of international, particularly Asian cuisine.
After a warm welcome at the entrance, the visitors are taken through every step of the culinary experience including the materials used, technologies applied, a careful selection of wine, and then finally get to enjoy everything at the table. All is done in a friendly atmosphere in the restaurant, with special décor, which can be reached through the Babérliget bookshop.

There are two tasting menus available – one of them is completely vegan. Both menus include the same number of courses.
Casual elegance, naturalistic cuisine, an open kitchen, and its young staff are the main features. The culinary philosophy of chef Ádám Mede relies on the harmony of local and seasonal ingredients with the delicious desserts of Zsuzsanna Ötvös on offer.

Laurel Wine Vault
The Laurel Budapest under the supervision of Peter Tüű, a two-times sommelier champion of Hungary and Levente Balogh (also one of the most talented young experts) – offers for its wine lover guests rental opportunities in their wine vaults. Inside their wine cellar, there are 104 vaults where the wine is kept under perfect conditions. Guidance, acquisition, storage, and registering are offered along with serving in a unique environment for the passion of wine.
