Oman, known for its traditional Arabic sailing ships, its magnificent fortresses and mosques, its stunning wadis and immersive landscapes, dive us deep into a peaceful and accessible environment.
As there are no better places than Oman to escape from reality and spend relaxing holidays, W Muscat Marriott hotel opened its doors to let us experience locally inspired massages and rejuvenating treatments care.
We met Hasna Alkindi, the supervisor of AWAY Spa, who introduced us to organic products they are using and to experiences we may encounter in the journey.
As a supervisor, what is your management style?
I question myself: How to handle my team and my guests? I am always here for my colleagues; we need to apply each other’s advice and help each other grow together. Also, we attribute a significant focus on keeping the place very clean, very peaceful so that guests feel relieved.
Feedback is essential for us. If there is something we didn’t do well, the opinions of the guests are helping us grow.
What is your motto?
No matter what, always positively take everything. We are a team, so we need to build things together in the best way possible. We need to help each other. There are no differences between managers or supervisors, or other colleagues. We all have our hands to spread peace.
What is the most important lesson/skills you have learned doing your job?
The most important skill you need to have is patience. No matter how stressed you are, you need to keep your private life away from work, no matter your situation.
I learned that if I cannot control myself, I cannot control the team.
What can you offer in this spa that we cannot experience anywhere else?
Luxury, diversity of our therapists – we have five skilled specialists from different countries: Iran, Indonesia, Thai… who studied for 10-13 years.
We welcome our customers as if they were home, we focus on the wellness of our guests, the hygiene of our spas, and we offer the best products they deserve to use.
We care about our guests: if there is a specific event like a wedding or a birthday, we organise surprises with cakes and give more than our energy.
We want to share and let our customers feel the moment.
Kids can also enjoy the spa as we organise activities for them: yoga, pool, tennis court, sports room.
There is no routine in this spa. We constantly renew our energy and give differently according to our guests and what they come for.
What defines W Muscat treatment care compared to other hotels?
We take care of the wellness of our guests. First, we ask them if the room temperature is good for them, the colour of the room they want to be immersed in, to detox their body (the purple symbolises peace and relaxation; the blue evokes escape to stay far away from bad vibes, and the golden one is for facial treatments to take care of the skin). Then, we ask the pressure they like (if they want to add hot stones or recover eyes). We offer massages for couples as well.
We are very flexible and attentive to our guests’ will.
What is your greatest strength as a Spa supervisor?
I am grateful for my director Eva who gave me the courage and trust I needed. Thanks to this work, I developed my listening skills; I am reticent, and I learned a lot. I am being very friendly, peaceful and patient doing my job.
How can you ensure that your massage is the best for everyone?
I am trying every massage because I need to study the hand so that we have everything our guests may want, as our specialists know all the techniques.
Why is Oman the best spot to feel relaxed?
Oman is a peaceful country and peaceful area.
We combine the luxury, perfection, and peace you can get here. It all comes as a package. We try to give everything our guests could want us to provide.
You need to escape with us.
