Magniberg’s creator, Bengt Thornefors, extended an invitation to Danish artist Sejersen to craft an immersive experience commemorating the launch of the opulent Lady Blanket. Sejersen’s evocative 10-minute film serves as a convergence of creative disciplines, exploring Thornefors’ lifelong fascination with ballet. Titled “Garden of Lust,” the short film is a collaborative endeavor involving Sejersen, composer August Rosenbaum, and dancers from both the Royal Danish Ballet and Tivoli Ballet.
Thornefors, captivated by the world of ballet, shared his secret desire to become a ballet dancer, expressing admiration for the authentic emotion and grandeur encapsulated in dance. Sejersen, understanding this aspiration, brought Thornefors’ dream to life through the creation of a visually stunning film where ballet, bodies, and blankets seamlessly transform into captivating shapes. Thornefors praised Sejersen’s artistic sensibility, stating that it resonates profoundly with Magniberg’s vision.
The Lady Blanket itself is a work of art. Collaborating with Lena Rewell Textile Studio, a family-owned mill specializing in hand weaving since 1962, Magniberg crafted The Lady using their Wall Street pinstripe as a design reference. This limited edition comprises fewer than 100 blankets, with every detail meticulously handcrafted – from the weaving to the fringes and brushing, each process is carried out with natural cones, ensuring a unique touch to each individual blanket.
