The extraordinarily lustrous opal dial, alive with blue and green sparks, is a wonder in itself – a luminous gem of such size that it can fit into a 45mm case is a rarity. Opal – Yves Piaget’s favourite stone – has long been considered a symbol of purity and authenticity, and in this case it is enhanced by the perfect blue of the three-row baguette-cut sapphires that surround it; a collection of gems with a uniform blue hue, a real challenge for Piaget’s gemologists. “The world for me is like an opal, made up of many flavours and colours,” Yves Piaget often said. With its slim dauphine hands, this masterpiece combines Piaget’s signature chromatic flair with its intimate connection to rare gemstones, bringing to life the entire expertise of the Maison – from watchmakers to jewelers.
