Oliver and Clarke, the brand founded by young entrepreneur Linden Lazarus, has caused quite a stir in the antique watch sector. Established in late 2018, when Lazarus was just 15 years old and enrolled in a boarding school in Kents Hill, Maine, Oliver and Clarke has quickly become a significant force in the high-end watch market.
In July 2018, Lazarus and his father vacationed in London, where he first became interested in timepieces. He was mesmerized by the intricate details and fine craftsmanship of high-end watches after being enthralled with the timepieces at a sizable Watches of Switzerland location. This encounter made him very passionate, and he set out on a quest that would eventually lead to the creation of his own company.
Lazarus continued pursuing his newfound interest, even with his meager finances and young age. Equipped with earnings from part-time employment and the sale of baseball cards, he ventured into watch trading for the first time, spending $2,800 for an IWC Ingenieur in rose gold and steel on eBay. His confidence that there was potential for success in the sector was reinforced when he sold it a few months later for a $800 profit.
Since its inception, Oliver and Clarke have experienced remarkable growth under Lazarus’s leadership. With the majority of sales coming from its website and Instagram account, the company has established a solid online presence, attracting a loyal clientele base from around the globe. Lazarus’s commitment to customer satisfaction and fair pricing has earned Oliver and Clarke a reputation for integrity and trustworthiness in an industry often plagued by skepticism.
The firm focuses on antique timepieces from the 1980s and earlier, specializing in Rolex watches, presented in the company’s mid-century industrial penthouse in West Hollywood. Lazarus is delighted to provide only the finest items, frequently with distinctive dials and features that make them stand out. Oliver & Clarke sells watches for an average of $40,000, appealing to a selective customer base that values originality and high quality.
Lazarus has earned the respect of other watch enthusiasts with his deep knowledge of the product. He commands respect in his field and is known for his meticulous attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
Also now welcoming on to the team Raymond, Former Head of Sales at Watches of Switzerland, offers yet another unique perspective for the swiftly growing company with a very inviting showroom in Los Angeles. The larger team includes six additional members from creatives to watch specialists.
Though Lazarus does not like to focus on his age, it does benefit him in terms of his social media knowledge. His Instagram has surpassed over 28 thousand followers, thanks in large part to his great media marketing skills. He also has the Oliver and Clarke website up and running smoothly for a deeper look into products such as Vintage Rolex.
