It’s been over a century since the first Chanel Resort Show was presented in California. The second collection in the City of Angels was shown in 2007 under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld. Not inferior to Lagerfeld’s iconic “Chanel flights”, Virginie Viard’s vision of Chanel Cruise 2024 has made an impression.
Imagined by Virginie Viard in sunset pastels and flamboyant hues, the collection goes hand in hand with the fantasy of faraway voyages and an effortless allure.
The collection, as planned, reflects the California vibe: the golden age of Hollywood movies, the American dream, surfing, and roller skating.
The show starts with various black pieces, recalling the vibrant ’80s through leg warmers, sport style, and models’ hair. Viard’s signature feminine touch comes into view as the show continues, featuring flowing skirts and stunning jewellery. Of course, there’s a lot of tweed in the collection in a new reading. Gold takes centre stage in the jewellery and is the main highlight of dresses, swimsuits, pants, and jackets. Viard’s collection radiates glamour and glow; everything in it shimmers and sparkles. Pink, along with timeless black, becomes the primary colour this season. Now there will definitely be something to wear for the Barbie premiere.
