GEKRAFS (National Creative Economy Movement) is back with activities aimed at helping the creative economy. This time in the fashion sector. With the title GEKRAFS PARIS FASHION SHOW at PARIS FASHION WEEK 2022 supported by SCARLETT, GEKRAFS brought 10 Indonesian fashion brands to showcase their work in Paris. This was done after 2 years of the pandemic, many Indonesian designer bands were unable to perform offline shows and direct business matching to show their works.
This event is an off schedule from PARIS FASHION WEEK, as we know, the ON Schedule is only dedicated to local Paris brands, while brands outside Paris are required to make their own show with the standards that apply at Paris Fashion Week. GEKRAFS is the one and only community from Indonesia that has independent shows with 10 slots filled with 10 brands at the 2022 PARIS FASHION SHOW.
GEKRAFS PARIS FASHION SHOW at PARIS FASHION WEEK 2022 was held on March 6, 2022 at The Westin Paris Vendome which is organized by the Fashion Division. This event will invite hundreds of European Influencers, media and buyers. This of course will greatly help Indonesian brands to be known in the European market, especially France. A line of fashion people from well-known brands were present to witness this event and the Ambassador of Indonesia – France was also present Mr Muhamad Oemar, Minister of Information and communication Indonesia Mr Jhonny J Plate.
The brands that were in the spotlight were SCARLETT x IKYK, Greenlight x Ican Harem, 3 second x Danjyo Hiyoji, La Sabelle x Em En Hair Design, Brand no brand, Yanti Adeni x Ayam Geprek Bensu, Deskranasda Banjar Baru, Chayra by Tika Ramlan, and HIPMI carries the Shade Signature x Kosme Mask brand, Shade Mulsk + dr Lid + . They showed Indonesia from various perspectives such as from art, culture, social, architecture, and food. Indonesian people could watch live fashion shows which was broadcasted on Instagram @gekrafs on March 6, 2022.
Kawendra Lukistian general Chairman of GEKRAFS said “GEKRAFS wants to always take concrete steps that can directly benefit creative economy players, this activity was one of those steps.” from 6-16 March 2022, this was an attempt to open a retail or b to b gate for the brands involved. “Paris is the window of world fashion, brands must really take advantage of this moment to be able to network, see opportunities and markets for them,” said Temi Sumarlin, “Chief of Committee of GEKRAFS PARIS FASHION SHOW 2022 who is also the Daily Chairman of DPP GEKRAFS. The Indonesian Ambassador to LBBP in Paris Mr. Mohamad Oemar welcomed this activity and supported the 2022 GEKRAFS Paris Fashion Show because it could become a stage for fashion to be accepted in Paris as the world’s fashion city.
With the hashtag #indonesiabanget #empowerIndonesia, referring to the G20 to be held in Indonesia with the theme “empowering Indonesia” and strengthening female leaders in the private sector. GEKRAFS supports local go global products and women work in various fields including fashion.
