Situated in Christie’s in Paris, a sea of fashion goers dressed in black were awakened by a sea of color. Alexis Mabille’s Spring Summer 2023 runway was set ablaze with opening looks draped in gold. We then were invited to experience an eye-awakening mixture of colors. If I had a penny for everytime a dseigner used “color” as inspiration, I would be a very rich woman. That said, Alexis Mabille took the colors of the rainbow, and applied them in a smart, inventive, and elegant way, turning even the strongest lover of the dark into a “Color Addict.”

With precise draping and expert technique, the finish on each garment is exactly what you would expect from a grand couturier like Mabille, but what truly stood out is the wearability of the collection. So often, haute couture collections are void of taste in favor of imagination and creativity. Mabille was able to take haute couture, and create pieces that are meant to be worn and shown off on a night out in Paris. With his incredibly flattering and endlessly elegant silhouettes, we certainly expect to see this collection on the red carpet as award season ensues.
