The Bible (John 8:32) states that Jesus Christ once said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” It is a quote that resonates deeply with every ounce of Daniel Chand’s being and one that changed the evangelist’s life, giving him a shot at redemption.
“I was pretty far gone down the wrong path and one which was built on lies,” explained Daniel Chand. “People had pretty much given up on me, I had given up on me, but there was one who hadn’t, and his name was Jesus Christ.”
Daniel Chand’s Road to Damascus moment came when he was standing trial for violent assault and staring down the barrel of a possible eight-year prison sentence. At rock bottom and with nowhere left to turn, Chand offered a prayer of God, begging for forgiveness and another chance to make amends. Miraculously, the trial collapsed, and the former boxer has dedicated his life to God ever since.
Chand explained, “As someone who used to box, I was used to fighting and never quitting. But I realized that physical fighting was futile and a waste of my strength and resources compared with the real fight, which is the struggle to shine a light on the beauty and truth of Christ’s teachings in a world which is growing increasingly darker by the day.”
Putting his money where his mouth is, Daniel Chand took to the streets in the same way that Christ did: to offer help and support to the poor, the outcasts, and those who the rest of society has forsaken. His evangelistic zeal has taken him on a worldwide mission to spread the fundamental truth of Christ’s teachings.
“I think it was William Faulkner who said, ‘Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world would do this, it would change the earth.’ And that’s exactly where I’m at right now. Truth can make you an outcast; it can make you the subject of terrible persecution; it can make you an easy target and make you feel incredibly isolated, but honesty in thoughts and deeds is always the best policy. I see a lot of youngsters in this world who are confused, lonely, and tormented because they are being fed a pack of lies by big media and society at large. Honesty is simplicity, but it can also hurt when you first embrace it. My advice to youngsters is to stick with honesty even if it hurts because it will lead you to an everlasting truth that is and will forever remain unconquerable. Amen.”
