JimmyPaul x Pokémon: Character-Led Design at AW26 London Fashion Week 2026

At London Fashion Week, JimmyPaul presented a collection that translated the visual identity of Pokémon into clothing that stunned the runway. Rather than relying on graphic reproduction, the concept references were embedded into silhouette, fabrication, and proportion, allowing the garments to function even independently of the collaboration. The result was a celebration of Pokémon’s 30-year legacy: Pikachu-inspired structured outerwear, Eevee’s softer, fluid shapes, and Mew and Mewtwo looks infused with racing-derived speed and high-shine materials. By distilling character DNA into technical construction, JimmyPaul bridged the gap between high-fashion runway and wearable street style, proving that “geek chic” has evolved into high-end wearable art.

A key look from the catwalk show ‘ROAM’ appeared in the form of a floor-length, panelled pink column dress constructed from vertically striped fabric and layered over a blue striped cotton shirt. The bodice was sculpted with defined seams that shaped the torso, while an elongated tie extended the vertical line of the garment and disrupted the familiarity of traditional shirting codes. This manipulation of proportion transformed a conventional reference point into something character-driven without becoming costume. The look demonstrated JimmyPaul’s focus on construction as the primary vehicle for narrative.

This approach continued throughout the collection. Pikachu references were expressed through structured outerwear and compact silhouettes that emphasised volume through shape rather than surface decoration. In contrast, the Eevee looks introduced softer construction, with gathered fabric and looser movement that shifted the tension and weight of the garments on the body. References to Mew and Mewtwo incorporated racing-derived elements, including streamlined cuts and high-shine materials, which introduced speed and direction without resorting to literal interpretation.

Styling reinforced the collection’s material and structural focus. Faux-fur coats in saturated colours introduced density and surface contrast, while metallic footwear sharpened the outline of each look. Wedged shoes altered posture and stance, changing how the garments were carried in motion. Eyewear and accessories were integrated in a way that extended the line of the silhouette rather than distracting from it.

The strength of the collection lay in its restraint. Pokémon informed the architecture of the garments through proportion, cut, and material, rather than existing as an applied motif. This ensured the clothes remained autonomous, defined by their construction rather than their reference. JimmyPaul demonstrated that when external narratives are absorbed into form, they extend fashion rather than interrupt it.
