Generally it is said that when Mercury is retrograde you should not necessarily sign contracts, buy anything big, travel, get married or start your own business.
But it would be really bad to spend your precious lifetime behind closed doors because of an astrological interpretation, just because you keep experiencing and hearing that communication and technology sometimes go off the rails during this astrological period. The internet may go down, emails may not arrive, flights may be delayed, or packages may get lost in the mail.
But one should simply be more careful in such a time in Mercury: emails, trade, contracting, travel, and communication in general.
But what is a retrograde anyway?
Since the Earth orbits the Sun at different speeds than the other planets, they appear to move backward in the sky. This optical illusion occurs more often with the inner planets such as Mercury, Venus, or Mars, which orbit the Sun faster than the outer planets such as Pluto, Saturn, and Neptune. Their retrograde occurs less frequently, then sometimes lasts for months. Altogether one can say: To take a general speed out, to weigh decisions well, to think first, then to speak – these are all good recommendations for the retrograde time, but also for life in general.
Positive about this transit is that you can reorganize and concentrate on goals, sorting, repositioning, doing what has been left undone. The horrors of Mercury retrograde, which you always hear and read about, concern, as already mentioned, possible technical problems, communication errors, misunderstandings, complications in business and negotiations, or travel problems.
What does Mercury Retrograde in the fall of 2021 mean for the individual zodiac signs?
Here are my astrological tips for the 12 zodiac signs to get through the Mercury Retrograde from 09/27-18/10/21 well:
1. Aries can get itself into big trouble with the Mercury retrograde cycle if it allows itself to be defined too much by the tact and drive of others. For if its focus is only on what the outside reaction is, Aries may be more likely to make mistakes with overly impulsive “head-through-the-wall” actions. They might then communicate hastily and rush into decisions that end up hurting their cause!
2. the sign Taurus can have a hard time with the Mercury retrograde cycle, when they become aware of their own (financial) limits. Also it is dangerous if they allow others, own superficialities or greed for luxury, status, money, appearance all too much to define their own value! This can happen, for example, if you buy something out of greed and “want to have” and do not pay attention to read the fine print, the terms of sale or delivery and pay attention to the price.
3. Since Mercury rules Gemini, Gemini tends to be increasingly sensitive to a Mercury retrograde, especially when it comes to communication, travel, and business and personal scheduling.
Thus, Gemini may get themselves into trouble by not verifying the accuracy of facts or opinions, or by transmitting or believing information to be true all too quickly before it has been verified. This is because their otherwise good analytics work worse during a Mercury Retrograde. Also, it is important to recognize the opinions of others, but to distinguish whether they are based on fact or come from judgment and false beliefs.
4. Zodiac sign Cancer can cause themselves grief during Mercury retrograde by caring too much about the feelings of others, ignoring what they actually feel themselves. Sensitive Cancers should basically not ignore their own impressions and feelings! If one focuses only on others by caring for them or taking responsibility for them, one tends to ignore important clues from intuition and may then act wrongly. In addition, one must not let communication with others suffer from whims and mood swings and become overly dramatic or diva-like.
5. Leos can adjust to Mercury retrograde by the need to shine and appear good in front of an audience, and be careful to choose words well and diplomatically in order to be well received!
However, if the Leo acts out of pride or the need to be all too generous, he may overlook his own consequences for himself during this cycle. For example, he may pick up the tab for all his friends at a restaurant, but forget that you can’t actually afford it. Thus, an inflated self-confidence and showiness can lead one to take risks without assessing the full consequences of one’s decisions.
6. Mercury rules the sign of Virgo, as well as Gemini, and therefore the sensitivity to the Mercury retrograde cycle is also greater for the Virgo-born than for the other signs. The danger for Virgo is to put themselves into tunnel vision regarding all the present tasks, to do’s, lists and workload. Thus, better solutions and options for action may be overlooked because one no longer allows a view for creative solutions. Virgins may also lose sight of the big picture because they are too focused on the details. You can’t see the forest for the trees!
7. Libra: Just because Mercury becomes retrograde in their sign dear Libra-born, you should pay much more attention to all the details when signing contracts, emails, messages via messenger or everything that is sent out! Sometimes details that are important are left out because you might feel that others don’t want to hear them or because you seem to be waiting for the “right” or “better” time to communicate. If they were born under the sign of Libra, I recommend that they be mindful in general, but at the same time, don’t procrastinate! If you constantly avoid confrontations, this can lead to difficulties later in business but also in private communication.
8. Scorpio could get itself or others into trouble during the Mercury retrograde cycle by allowing its deepest emotions or past hurts to cloud its own mind. This is almost dangerous because it can lead to revenge or arbitrariness, from which even the closest environment will suffer. If you were born under the sign of Scorpio, it is important to learn to let go of emotional baggage without burdening other people with whom you work, for example, in your job.
9. Sagittarius: If for you insights come from intuition is positive! But just as easily it can lead to difficulties, if the intuition is distorted by a moral judgment, during Mercury retrograde! Therefore: Beware of self-deception! Similarly, if you as a Sagittarius avoid checking all the facts in contract negotiations, for example, because you are under the delusion that you are always in the right or on the morally superior side anyway. 10. Capricorn could block itself during Mercury retrograde by an exaggerated concentration and too strict adherence to rules! Capricorns expose themselves to this strictness constantly and may feel badly treated as a result. Caution: If the focus is only on their own standards or misunderstood traditions and duties, they may make mistakes and unexpected difficulties may arise!
11. Aquarius is basically characterized by the feeling of necessarily having independence and freedom. However, if their behavior becomes all too stubborn, rebellious, or provocative during Mercury retrograde, there is a danger that sound judgment will suffer. Friendly diplomatic communication is then difficult. This can lead to relationship trouble! Please think about the fact that you restrict and block yourself with exaggerated freedom urges!
12. The sensitive gift of Pisces to adjust to other vibrations and to take over from the environment all emotions, needs but even negative patterns, brings Pisces even without Mercury retrograde often confusion and problems! Because of this, their judgment is sometimes like fog. Therefore, during the Mercury retrograde cycle, Pisces must pay even more attention to the details in communication, work processes, and contracts. Calmness is important for Pisces to maintain overall clarity.
