Janine Gutierrez’s red carpet appearance was a masterclass in refined sexiness, blending understated elegance with a sophisticated, sultry edge.

In a dazzling homage to timeless glamour and contemporary artistry, Janine Gutierrez stepped onto the ABS-CBN Ball’s red carpet in a deep crimson iridescent gown by Mark Bumgarner. But even before stepping unto the carpet, she tapped good friend BJ Pascual to capture the look in a moody floral setting. The visuals exuded the romantic allure of spring—blooming roses, liquid-metal sheen, and an undeniable air of modernity.
The designer’s approach felt like a deliberate subversion of red carpet conventions, opting for technical precision over excessive embellishment. By playing with light through the fabric’s iridescence, the look read both bold and restrained—classic yet unquestionably forward-thinking.
“For Janine, we took a less literal approach to the theme, thinking outside the box,” Mark explained. “We focused on her statuesque figure, emphasizing her height and cinching her waist to create our dream silhouette. The fabric is a liquid-metal material that shifts hues depending on the lighting, adding depth and dimension. We kept the design clean and crisp because Janine naturally stands out — she didn’t need much embellishment. Instead, we went for something bold and technically refined.”
The gown’s captivating shade was inspired by the vibrant roses of spring, tying subtly yet powerfully to the evening’s Spring Formal theme. The fluidity of the fabric, shimmering between deep red and metallic tones, perfectly encapsulated the ethereal romance that the red carpet event demanded.
Janine’s own vision was equally inspired. “I wanted to channel Old Hollywood glamour but with a modern twist and try a look I’ve never really done before,” she shared.

The choice of accessories elevated the look as well. “As per the jewelry, we collaborated with Bvlgari Philippines to look for the perfect pieces to complete the full dream,” Mark revealed. Adorned in Bvlgari’s Serpenti rose gold necklace and bracelet, Janine shimmered with a tactile appeal and luxurious craftsmanship. The Serpenti pieces, composed of mobile gold beads, lent a mesmerizing fluidity to her ensemble. Completing the jewelry set were a ring and earrings from the Divas’ Dream collection, adding elegance and femininity to her look.
Beauty experts Anthea Bueno and Jay Aquino brought the vision to life with their impeccable styling. “It’s a nod to 90’s glamour. Frosted lips and eyeshadow. But grounded by glowing skin that made it a bit more current and modern,” Anthea described of the makeup. Aquino’s sleek, wet hairstyle added an unexpected sultry edge. “I wanted to do something sexy and show off Janine’s features in an unconventional way. I also feel like the sleek and wet hairstyle complements her dress in a subtle, sultry way,” he explained.
Together, the team crafted an arresting look that revealed a different side to Janine. The gown’s iridescence, the old-meets-new aesthetic, and the effortless grace of the actress herself all combined to create one of the most unforgettable looks of the evening.
