Lucas Raven is a global icon known for his impeccable style and adventurous spirit. From his beginnings as MTV’s heartthrob VJ to becoming one of the world’s most renowned travel connoisseurs, Lucas has captivated audiences with his luxurious lifestyle and unique travel experiences. With a strong presence on social media, he has built a brand that influences and inspires people around the world. In this interview for L’Officiel Monaco, he reveals his journey, insights into the world of luxury travel, and his exciting future plans.
Lucas, when you think of stylish travel, what are the first things that come to mind?
Stylish travel is the perfect balance of comfort and timeless elegance. For me, it’s about essentials like a well-tailored blazer, classic loafers, and a Panama hat from my Raven x Metier line. But beyond fashion, it’s the overall experience—seamless itineraries, staying at sustainable resorts with character, and fully immersing oneself in the local culture.
From being an MTV VJ to becoming a travel style icon, how has your journey evolved, and what has shaped your unique approach to travel and style?
My MTV days introduced me to the art of storytelling, albeit through music and entertainment. That naturally transitioned into sharing my journey as a global traveler. Over time, my perspective evolved from simply visiting places to curating deeply meaningful experiences. Style has always been an extension of this evolution—each destination inspires not only what I wear but also how I view the world.
I also love collaborating with artisans, local designers, and craftsmen, which adds another layer of authenticity and creativity to my personal and professional style.
You’ve traveled to some of the most luxurious locations in the world. Which destination left the biggest impact on you, and why?
Bhutan holds a special place in my heart. Serene landscapes, vibrant culture, and spiritual depth leave an indelible mark on anyone who visits. On the other hand, the Maldives captures the beauty of nature’s simplicity—its pristine marine life and the endless expanse of ocean remind you of life’s humbling grandeur.
Resorts like Vakkaru, where my Panama hats are available, embody the thoughtful elegance I admire, inspiring me both as a traveler and a creator
How do you balance personal life with your career on the go?
It’s all about prioritizing quality time. When I’m home—whether in Dubai, Qatar, or Ireland—I focus on being fully present with my family. When traveling, I make sure my journeys serve both personal and professional purposes. I also carve out moments of reflection and connection, ensuring my lifestyle remains balanced and intentional, even amidst the chaos of constant movement.
You’ve built a brand around your lifestyle and experiences. How did you turn your passion for travel into a successful business?
It all started with authenticity—I never set out to create a brand; I simply shared what I loved. My passion for meaningful travel and refined style resonated with people, leading to collaborations and ventures like my PR agency, The Raven PR, and my online magazine, The Raven Reports (TheRavenReports.com). Staying true to my values and consistently delivering substance have been key to my success.
Your sense of style is inspiring to many. How do you incorporate the cultures and destinations you visit into your personal fashion?
Every destination I visit leaves a mark on my wardrobe. For instance, my Raven x Metier Panama hat line pays homage to the craftsmanship of Ecuador. Similarly, my appreciation for intricate patterns and textiles is rooted in my time spent in the Middle East and Asia. For me, fashion is a form of storytelling—every piece I wear or design encapsulates the spirit of a place, its culture, and the memories it holds.
You mentioned that social media has played a key role in building your brand. How do you manage your online presence and connect with your dedicated followers?
Social media allows me to share my perspective and inspire others. Authenticity is key—whether it’s capturing a remote island’s beauty or offering a glimpse into the creative process behind my hats. I prioritize direct engagement with my followers, value their feedback, and use it to fine-tune my vision. Consistency, transparency, and staying true to my ethos have built a loyal and supportive community.
What’s next for you in terms of travel, business, and personal projects? Can you tell us more about your upcoming book and Panama hat line?
There’s so much to look forward to! My upcoming book, The Golden Coins and the Mysterious Disappearance of Shannon Garfield, is a dark fantasy that allows me to explore storytelling in a completely new way. It’s a passion project I’m incredibly excited to share.
As for my Raven x Metier Panama hat line, I’m working on expanding its reach to more luxury resorts while exploring bespoke designs for private clients. My PR agency, The Raven PR, and my magazine, The Raven Reports, continue to grow as platforms for celebrating exceptional journeys and perspectives.
