Secrets of Youth and Issues Unresolvable by Plastic Surgery
To learn about beauty trends in 2024, secrets of youth, and issues that plastic surgery cannot solve, L’Officiel Monaco spoke with Olga Kompaniets, a beauty expert with 20 years of experience in aesthetic medicine.
L’O: You’ve worked in aesthetic medicine for 20 years and are a well-known beauty expert. How do you balance interventions in natural appearance and the desire for self-improvement?
Olga Kompaniets: In everything, there should be moderation and naturalness. I am against standardized beauty, but I support self-improvement in all directions. If a woman has a specific complex that hinders her from living fully and feeling comfortable, plastic surgery comes to the rescue. Today, aesthetic surgery, cosmetology, and the entire beauty industry are at a very high level and help solve a range of problems that cannot be addressed otherwise. It’s essential to remember that well-performed plastic surgery never gives itself away, and the result should be harmonious and natural. Only such intervention can be considered successful.
L’O: How do you choose a truly expert in aesthetic medicine?
OK: Being an expert in aesthetic medicine is, first of all, about taking responsibility. Additionally:
- Possessing an impeccable reputation and authority in the field.
- Having significant experience, as expertise is formed over time. • Knowing the field from the inside, not just from advertising brochures.
- Knowing the best specialists in their specialization worldwide, ideally personally rather than through Instagram pages.
- Being aware of the strengths and weaknesses of specialists, the real percentage of successful operations, and the percentage of postoperative complications, dissatisfied patients, and requests for re-intervention.
- Having good aesthetic taste and imagination. A person must be decent, honest, self-sufficient, and independent. Never collaborate with surgeons or other beauty industry professionals. Always act solely in the patient’s interest.
L’O: Tell us about the trends in aesthetic medicine in 2024.
OK: The main trend in aesthetic medicine and cosmetology today is naturalness. Specifically: healthy hair, well-groomed skin, toned athletic body, and a beautiful smile. All of this is impossible without a healthy lifestyle and balanced nutrition. Actual too:
- Taking care of physical and mental health.
- Delicate and measured interventions that emphasize beauty without exaggeration and artificiality. I am confident, and it pleases me that this trend is here to stay
L’O: What are the advantages of plastic surgery over other facial rejuvenation methods?
OK: Plastic surgery addresses radical issues and provides results that no other equipment or cosmetic measures can achieve. One must approach this question very thoughtfully and responsibly because you have to live with the result, and it should not just satisfy but also bring joy and happiness. It’s crucial to remember that no plastic surgery on the face improves the quality of your skin. Quality, density, moisture – these are already cosmetic issues. Today, there is a vast arsenal of individually tailored measures and techniques to meet any skin needs. Never underestimate well-chosen home care. Plastic surgery is closely related to cosmetology, and they don’t work well without each other for optimal results, in my professional opinion.
L’O: In what cases do you dissuade patients from surgery?
OK: When changes in appearance are imposed on the patient externally and are not their personal desire. For example, everything is fine for me, but my husband wants me to enlarge my breasts or change the shape of my nose or eyes. When the patient doesn’t know what they want. Such a patient will never be satisfied with the result. When changes in appearance will not lead to the expected result.
L’O: From what age can aesthetic interventions aimed at rejuvenation be genuinely effective?
OK: In this matter, I would advise focusing not on age but on direct indications for more radical methods. We are all different and unique. For example, eyes primarily reveal age. Someone at 23-25 may need lower blepharoplasty – a case where we can see with the naked eye hernias that make the face look tired and add age. Or conversely, someone at 40 may not have indications for this intervention. L’O: Share your beauty and extraordinary appearance secrets. OK: The very first and most crucial thing is a healthy lifestyle and balanced nutrition; early wake-ups and early bedtime; regular physical activity; adequate sleep; regular check-ups; correction of microelements and minerals in the body; cosmetic procedures and correctly selected home care; working on mental health. The most beautiful woman is a content, fulfilled, confident, loved, and loving one. Any beauty fades if you don’t radiate from within, and your eyes are unhappy
