Sixties Style Icons that Still Inspire Today

If you feel nostalgic for the 1960s style, a period known for breaking fashion traditions, you’re in luck! Many of the ss21 looks are inspired by this period and its style icons such as Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot and Francoise Hardy.

Headscarves are the ideal accessory to protect your hair while also adding an elegant touch to your outfit. There are endless ways of styling them and many patterns and motifs to pick from. Brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Celine and Dolce & Gabbana presented many these.

The classical gogo dancers inspired knee-high white boots are perfectly paired with a mini dress or skirt. Wearable in any weather, boots like these Jonak ones from ss21 make it seem as though you are going on an adventure and anything is possible.

The mini-split dresses with cut-outs and rising hemlines inspired by the 60s era are back for ss21. Designer Jacquemus for example, came out with a few high cut bodycon style dresses.

Brands like Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton also included mini skirts in their collections. A classic that is easily paired with anything.

Finally, the 60s inspired makeup was also a part of ss21. For Christopher John Rodgers, makeup artist Marcelo Gutierrez created a 60s inspired doe-eyed look using MAC Cosmetics products during the Spring 2021 Fashion week runway.
