In honor of Queen Elizabeth’s recent birthday, L’OFFICIEL celebrates Her Majesty with a look back at some of the milestone moments from her life as a young monarch.
The rock at the center of the British monarchy, Queen Elizabeth II has been the longest living monarch to reign over the United Kingdom. She unexpectedly became queen in 1952 at the young age of 25 following the death of her dear father, King George VI. Since then, she has worked with 14 prime ministers in her over six decades on the throne, all while carrying out service, engagements, overseas visits, and raising a family. She’s also shared her royal duties with her husband of 73 years Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who recently passed at 99 years old, and her four children, Charles, Prince of Wales; Princess Anne; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Sussex; as well as her grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry. Though Queen Elizabeth II won’t be celebrating her 95th birthday with the usual traditions due to Prince Philip’s passing, L’OFFICIEL honors the occasion with a look at her best moments from young princess to the ruling monarch of the United Kingdom.
