Dedicated to the designer’s legacy, an exhibition shows how the brand’s signature silhouette has been an essential aspect of culture and visual arts throughout history.
Vivienne Westwood, “the godmother of punk,” was known for her designs that combine modern and classic elements, reflecting her passions and beliefs.
“Westwood heritage – corsets,” says in big letters on the brand’s website. Vivienne Westwood drew her inspiration from the past. Her corsets, based on 18th-century motifs, symbolise influence. The designer rethought the idea of the corset, long considered a patriarchal instrument that deformed the female body. Vivienne Westwood was also one of the first to introduce underwear as outerwear.

“Each piece shown reveals Westwood’s ingenuity in corsetry design and Andreas Kronthaler’s most recent iterations of this historical garment, which have gone on to influence the current collections of the house.”
The exhibition showcases iconic pieces and will feature a limited-edition jewellery collection, including a 3D charm of the Westwood Portrait corset. Make sure to see it on time before May 21.
