Yes, you read it right! Charles Kaisin, Antony Gormley and Inez & Vinoodh have unique ways to raise funds and help hospitals or organizations fight against difficult situations. Artists and designers call for solidarity in these disturbing times and encourage everyone to join the journey.
Take a seat and fasten your seatbelt; you are about to explore their powerful and unique artistic approach.
Here is some information about their engaging charity projects you can be part of!
1. Charles Kaisin, the brilliant and involved Belgian designer, created the “Origami for Life” project:
The project “Origami for Life” was born in March 2020. The idea was to ask the whole population to fold origami in the shape of a dove to represent solidarity and peace. For each origami collected, a certain amount of money will go to hospitals to fight against covid-19.
They just started the project a few weeks ago in Paris, at the Palais de Tokyo, thanks to Engie, the energy group to support the Samu Social. In this cold period, families are sometimes in precarious situations, and it is possible to help. Therefore, for each origami received, there is 1 euro which is given by Engie to support the Food Bank of Samu Social. The same process will apply to Lyon so that the project will be done nationally.

“The Samu Social is an extraordinary organization which saves lives and allow people to physically have health care, to have something to eat, to help them grow and rise. Therefore, for me, it is something fundamental, on the same level as education. It is very concrete and actual: they distribute meals, deliver packages of basic necessities, and it allows thousands of people, to put it mildly, to live healthily”, Charles Kaisin said.

There are now two trees exhibited made with more than 12 500 origami. The idea is to gather between 40 000 and 60 000 origami, so get ready to create yours.
To contribute to this fascinating project, you can look at the Origami for Life website for additional information: www.origamiforlife.fr
You can send your creations to the following address – Palais de Tokyo: 13, Avenue du Président Wilson, 75116, Paris France.
2. Antony Gormley, a world-renown artist and sculptor, sells various of his art pieces in auctions:
The fascinating artist combining installations, sculptures, and public artworks is once again at the centre of the artistic landscape with other creative artists. Anish Kapoor, Julian Opie, the Connor Brothers and others, have donated their artworks at the Bonhams online sales. The aim is to raise money for medical workers: staff, volunteers and patients. The donations helped to buy sanitary material and equipment for local hospitals.
In addition to the auction that took place in late 2020, Antony Gormley is very recently supporting East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to help families and individuals with life-threatening conditions get enough resources and efficient cares.
The Turner Prize winner and artist behind the Angel of the North, revered for his creations that have been exhibited across the world, has donated this carbon and casein on paper piece, Cover II, to help the organisation at a time when the charity has never needed more support.
“EACH was expecting a £2.2 million loss in funding over the next 12 months as a result of disruption to fundraising activities and its shops – a third of the total it needs to support families across the region – before this third lockdown”, highlighted Michael Jarvis, Media and PR Manager.
Update your calendar if you want to be part of the auction. It will take place between the 25th of February and the 6th of March 2021 at www.cheffins.co.uk/fine-art
3. Inez and Vinoodh, outstanding duo of fashion photographers supported by Carine Roitfeld in their early career, launched an atypical charity app:
Vogue to GQ, via Vanity Fair or I-D, the duo still in the fashion industry, has staged various renowned artists, singers, models, and actors. Natalie Portman, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Clint Eastwood, to name a few, have been in front of their lens since 1990.
Today, the inspiring photographers launch the Double Dutch app, a cash-giving platform for charities like Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The world’s most influential people – Gigi Hadid, Sterling Ruby, Urs Fischer, André Saraiva, Marilyn Minter, Maurizio Cattelan, and Es Devlin, among others – have joined the project. Their works are now accessible in a few clicks on this digital platform, and it is for a good cause. This is an eco-responsible action, as everything is accessible online. You can help raise funds for various organizations: Knot on my Planet; Parley for the Oceans, and others…
