In this work, photographs are printed on vellum and backed with 24k gold leaf. It is coated with varnish and wax. These photos are in the book ‘You are Eternity, You Are The Mirror’, a book that explores beauty as an antidote to personal and political crises. Overlooked botanicals are used and are elevated by being covered thinly with gold leaf.

Pixy Liao is a Shanghai-born, Brooklyn-based artist. In her 12-year Experimental Relationship series, she documents her relationship with her boyfriend Moro since meeting in 2007 at the University of Memphis as graduate students. Her photographs are humorous and playful while also being bold and gender subverting.
