Body Motion: Exhibition of Photographer Natasha Kot

Natasha Kot’s exhibition titled Body Motion will be on display at Feel Good Gallery from October 6th to November 30th. As an artist-photographer, she does not shy away from enacting the canons of fashion photography.

Natasha Kot grew up in Ukraine, her birthplace. She began dancing as a child and unknowingly skilled her eye to what has characterized her sensual and shaken photographic world for the past eight years. Natasha Kot’s debut exhibition features images centred on the body, which she considers a fascination and its various amplitudes. “To increase what we have permanently in front of our eyes without paying attention to it” the relief hidden in the depth of a body in contraction or the energy of a reflex.

Natascha plays with artificial lights or natural elements to sculpt her subjects, provoking them until a new aesthetic is born from them, provoking our eye and banishing the normalization of the gaze. Natasha has found her angle if everything is a matter of interpretation. She never stops finding inventive ways to photograph her subjects, even if it means spending most of her time “on the floor or twisted in all directions.” This is how she shakes the static and translates or creates movement, a repeated feature of her work. She will even use the meticulous post-production process to broaden the spectrum if necessary.
