Fragrance Inspired by the Swedish Landscape
For L:a Bruket, fragrance has always offered a way to connect with the natural world. With its latest collection, the Swedish brand takes that idea further by drawing on local myths and the landscapes that have shaped its cultural heritage. Each fragrance tells a different story, yet all three remain closely tied to the textures and sensations of nature.
Swedish folklore plays an important role in the collection. The brand looks back to stories of mystical beings and old beliefs that connected people with forests, water, cliffs, and meadows. As a result, the fragrances carry names and ideas influenced by Old Norse language and Swedish traditions.
The collection features three eau de parfums: ÖVERNATUR, BLIXT, and DÌSIR. Each has its own character, while a shared focus on nature gives the collection a clear identity.
The Collection
1. ÖVERNATUR: The Forest After Rain
ÖVERNATUR takes its inspiration from the forest after rainfall. Its woody, earthy, and aromatic character recalls wet ground, evergreen foliage, and the rich atmosphere of the forest floor.
Fir needles bring a fresh green quality to the composition, while woody patchouli and oakmoss lichen create greater depth. Forest earth, spruce resin, and geosmin complete the fragrance, giving it the feeling of walking through a damp woodland shortly after a storm.
The result feels grounded and natural, with freshness at the opening and earthy warmth underneath. It is a fragrance for those who appreciate the quieter, darker side of nature.
2. BLIXT: The Energy of a Storm
BLIXT explores a different moment in the landscape. Inspired by a thunderbolt striking water, the fragrance brings together mineral, ozone, resinous, woody, and earthy notes.
Charged ozone gives the composition its crisp character, while rain-soaked stone adds a mineral quality. Black powder, wood resin, warm amber, and geosmin then introduce depth and warmth.
There is a sense of movement in BLIXT, but the composition remains restrained. The contrast between cool mineral notes and warmer materials creates a fragrance that feels connected to the atmosphere just after a storm.
3. DÌSIR: A Meadow at Sunrise
DÌSIR goes in a more delicate direction and is described as floral, watery, and powdery, reflecting the freshness of a meadow in the early morning.
Alongside cucumber essence and rice steam there is iris bloom, together with powdery musk which adds softness, and meadow dew and geosmin strengthen the link with outdoor environments.
The scent begins with a clean, watery note and then moves on to powdery petals before ending with a warmer woody note. DÌSIR presents a more gentle version of the Swedish landscape, emphasizing dew, flowers, and the quiet freshness of the morning.
Nature at the Heart of the Formulas
Although each fragrance follows a different story, they share an approach to formulation. L:a Bruket developed the collection with perfumers Mylène Alran and Grégoire Balleydier, who worked to translate the brand’s relationship with nature into scent.
The compositions contain over 90% natural ingredients and use a base made from plants. Carefully selected botanical essences and extracts provide the main olfactory character, while the formulas avoid unnecessary additions such as UV filters and synthetic dyes.
One substance plays a particularly important role in the entire collection: geosmin. It is commonly referred to as the smell of rain, and this earthy compound is what gives rise to the familiar odour linked with the air and the ground after it has rained.
L:a Bruket uses a high concentration of geosmin in all three fragrances. This common thread links ÖVERNATUR, BLIXT, and DÌSIR while reinforcing the collection’s connection to the natural environment.
Swedish Craftsmanship in Every Detail
The attention to nature continues with the bottles. Their sculptural shapes take inspiration from classic ceramic forms and connect to L:a Bruket’s beginnings in a founder’s pottery workshop.
The design combines primitive-looking forms with Nordic modernism. A biodegradable wood and cork cap adds warmth, while tinted glass gives the bottle a substantial presence. Made in France, the glass can also be recycled, adding a practical element to the design.
The care taken in this way gives the range a clear visual identity without detracting from the fragrances themselves, and the bottles have a close connection with the brand’s history, just as the scents do with the Swedish landscape.
