With over 90 designers, 41 runway shows, and 20 presentations, AW26 confirmed London as a stage where technical precision, material experimentation, and creative voice meet in equal measure. From heritage houses to emerging talent, the season showcased the city’s ability to balance practicality with imagination.

Burberry anchored the schedule with outerwear and tailoring that emphasised layering and movement. Trench coats, belted shearling, and silk dresses translated the house’s archival codes into modern city dressing. Simone Rocha explored volume and texture, pairing lace, pleats, and ribbons with subtle athletic references to create garments that were sculptural and functional. Pauline Dujancourt focused on layered knitwear and handwoven textures, combining alpaca, tulle, and pleated silk to produce silhouettes that felt ethereal.

Playful experimentation punctuated the week. JimmyPaul’s ‘ROAM’ Pokémon collaboration translated character traits into silhouette, proportion, and fabrication, embedding animation references within construction itself. Yuhan Ao foregrounded structural clarity and visible craftsmanship, using layered construction, exposed seams, and deliberately unresolved edges to expose material form.

2026 is the year of loud fashion and maximalism. Designers embraced boldness in every sense with exaggerated shoulders, dramatic volume, and layered textures that demand attention. Colour was strong with cobalt, rich reds and earthy tones, often paired in surprising combinations. Statement pieces weren’t just eye-catching, they were wearable, with tailoring and proportion keeping even the loudest looks grounded.

Key structural trends were clear. Railored jackets with defined waists, oversized coats, layered knitwear, and volumetric silhouettes dominated the runway. Footwear was sturdy yet statement-making, while accessories were layered for impact and not chaos. Street style mirrored the collections with shearling, bold prints, and confident layering, turning London itself into a runway.

Brand activations grew by 21% this season, according to the British Fashion Council (BFC), spanning not only shows and presentations but also appointments and smaller, curated events. AW26 showcased London as a hub of creativity and craft, a city where innovation meets experimentation, and where the future of fashion is imagined, refined, and vividly brought to life.
