Perfume holds a unique power—it can shift a mood, revive a memory, or express something words cannot. For many women, scent becomes part of their identity, a subtle yet lasting presence that lingers in a room long after they’ve left. It’s about feeling—confidence, comfort, or allure—captured in a bottle.

In a quiet atelier that draws its soul from the spirit of Parisian gardens, La Closerie des Parfums tells a story of heritage, instinct, and artful exploration. The name itself is a gentle nod to the historic closeries—those enclosed garden sanctuaries once cherished for their charm and quietude, where the senses were allowed to wander and daydreams took root. It is in this spirit of cultivated freedom that the maison approaches perfumery—not as a formula, but as a journey that begins in France and carries the nose far beyond.
Valérie Madrid, whose deep love for scent was shaped from an early age, grew up surrounded by glass bottles and the quiet music of distillation. As a child, she watched the alchemy unfold in her family’s workshop, intuitively drawn to the idea that aromas could express entire worlds. Later, she joined her father and uncle—Hervé and Antoine—immersing herself in their expertise and refining her own understanding of perfumery’s subtleties. Her education continued at the renowned Cinquième Sens school in Paris, where she grounded her passion in precision and professional technique.
But it was never just about craftsmanship. For Valérie, perfume is memory and motion—something personal, emotional, and open to interpretation. Inspired by her walks through Paris’s secret gardens, where nature and architecture whisper in harmony, she decided on a name that echoed both intimacy and imagination: La Closerie des Parfums. It would be a space for creative freedom, for play, and for the quiet sophistication that defines French living. Originally from Bordeaux—a city shaped by trade, wine, and spices—Valérie weaves into each creation her appetite for distant horizons and the sensuality of discovery. “With La Closerie,” she reflects, “I’m able to marry the language of fine French perfumery with my longing for elsewhere.”

Each fragrance begins with a foundation—an ingredient chosen for its narrative potential. Rose, oud, iris, cacao, patchouli: these aren’t just materials, they’re characters waiting to meet their match. From there, a dialogue unfolds. One might find harmony with a warm bark or a cool berry; another may awaken in the presence of crushed leaves or a peppery spark. But there is no randomness here—just a careful tuning of notes, like placing voices in a composition, each one shaped to complement the next without losing its individuality.
The result is not a formula repeated, but a balance achieved. A perfume from La Closerie des Parfums is not merely worn—it is experienced. It invites the wearer to engage, to discover, and to let imagination travel. Each bottle, at its core, holds an invitation to explore—an olfactory voyage shaped by expertise, yet completed by the sensibility of the one who wears it.
The 5 Collections of La Closerie des Parfums

Today, La Closerie des Parfums brings together five fragrance collections comprising 14 exclusive references, offering women and men a refined selection of unisex Eau de Parfums. Each person can therefore select their own destination—guided by their feelings, memories, or longing for faraway places. Because perfume is inherently subjective: an intimate adornment, we expect it to harmonize with both emotion and skin.
La Closerie currently offers:
- 4 explorations based on Oud: Oud Cannelle, Oud Safran, Oud Cardamome, and Oud Baie Rose
- 3 based on Patchouli: Patchouli Cannelle, Patchouli Baie Rose, and Patchouli Sichuan

To initiate sales teams into this sensory journey, immersive training workshops are held on a regular basis.

2025: The Year of Cacao
Since its creation in 2019 by Valérie Madrid, La Closerie des Parfums has continued to explore olfactory landscapes with a unique concept: noble ingredients of high perfumery elevated by spices from around the world. After unveiling fragrances centered on rose, patchouli, iris, and oud wood, the house announces the release of two new creations in 2025 focused on cacao—an iconic new ingredient brought to life with the help of two new spices: pimento and timur.
“I didn’t want to repeat an already existing universe,” says Valérie Madrid. So for the first time, she turned to the laboratory Cosmo International Fragrances, which provided exclusive access to a white cacao known as porcelana—an exceptional raw material harvested in the Peruvian highlands. Its beans, treated with the same discretion as fine chocolate-making, reveal a singular aromatic profile that is both generous and intense.
With the expertise of Master Perfumer Céline Perdriel, two new fragrances were born:
Cacao Pimento
Warmth and indulgence. A saffron-laced rum accord ignites with the heat of Jamaican pimento. Then comes a melting cacao heart, subtly enhanced by a cinnamon leaf—hinting at the Orient. The base is opulent, steeped in layers of roasted aromas: tonka bean, hazelnut, and coffee. A truly irresistible signature.
Cacao Timur
A chocolate accord full of contrast and freshness. The rounded base follows a cacao bean wrapped in notes of vanilla, amber, and musk. Then come the fruits—thanks to Timur, a tiny citrus fruit with peppery accents: grapefruit, blood orange, Peruvian lemon, and mandarin. The cacao electrifies in contact with these citrusy notes—creating a delicious thrill.
