Lecce is the capital of the Italian south-eastern region of Puglia and the birthplace of Dior creative director Maria Grazia Curie. This charming full of romance city, located on the “heel” of the Italian “boot”, is often called the “Florence of the South” because of its large number of Baroque architecture. But there’s more to it than that.
In July 2020, right in the heart of Lecce – on the central square Piazza del Duomo, the Dior cruise collection was shown. Meanwhile, a week ago, a 30-minute documentary was published on the brand’s official YouTube channel. Like the collection itself, it was dedicated to the beautiful southern region of Italy, its nature, traditions, and crafts.

Dior in Puglia: the land of Cruise 2021 inspiration
The documentary was directed by the Italian director Edoardo Winspeer. In the film you are being acquainted with the behind the scenes of the show, of how the preparations went, and what are the ideas within the collection.
Watching a movie strongly immerses you into the unique culture of the region. It also awakens a very strong desire to become a proud owner of a skirt from the collection with the embroidered motto of the local atelier Fondazione Le Costantine – “Amando e Cantando”. Which means “With love and songs” in Italian.
